Texas electricity plans, AI-ranked by what you'd actually pay — not the advertised teaser rate.
Live data from Power to Choose · every plan in your utility area · rankings are never for sale
How the AI ranking works
1
We pull every plan's required price disclosures (500 / 1,000 / 2,000 kWh) live from Power to Choose.
2
Our model interpolates between those points to estimate your bill at your usage — adding back bill credits you wouldn't earn.
3
Plans rank cheapest-first. No provider can pay to move up. Ever.
Why the advertised rate lies
Texas requires providers to publish average prices at 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kWh — but your bill depends on your usage. Three traps hide inside those averages:
Bill-credit cliffs. A plan advertises 7.5¢/kWh — but only if you hit 1,000 kWh and earn a $125 credit. Use 999 kWh and the same plan costs about $200: a 20¢ effective rate.
Tiered pricing. The first 500 kWh are cheap; everything after costs far more. The advertised average assumes you stay in the cheap tier.
Base charges. A flat $10–$20 monthly fee that's invisible in the per-kWh rate — brutal if you use less than average.
Our AI rebuilds your estimated bill at your usage from those disclosures, so the ranking reflects reality — not marketing.
Questions, answered
Is this every plan in Texas?
Every plan in the competitive market for your utility area, via Power to Choose. Municipal utilities and co-ops (like Austin Energy) aren't in the competitive market, so they don't appear.
What if my usage changes?
Re-run with a different number. Rankings can flip completely between 800 and 1,500 kWh — which is exactly why advertised averages mislead.
How fresh is the data?
Pulled live from Power to Choose. Always confirm the Electricity Facts Label before enrolling — prices can change.
